In a landmark moment for the district’s administrative history, Cumilla is set to receive its first-ever female deputy commissioner (DC) and district magistrate.
The government has appointed Rozy Akhter, a senior official from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, to take the helm of the district’s administration.
The transfer and posting were confirmed on Sunday through an official order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. Rozy Akhter, an officer of the 22nd batch of the BCS Administration Cadre, is expected to assume her new responsibilities in Cumilla shortly, following the ministry’s directives.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner, Md Reza Hasan, has been transferred to Sylhet, where he will take on the same role.
Speaking to reporters about his transfer, the new Sylhet DC remarked, “Postings are a regular part of government service. However, the sincerity and cooperation of the people of Cumilla during my tenure here were truly admirable. I will always cherish the warmth of this district.”
