Bangladesh’s influential band Souls has given its timeless song E Emon Porichoy a fresh unplugged treatment, bringing a new sound to the much-loved track.

The band released the rendition on YouTube on Wednesday night (12 August). The recording comes from Souls Unplugged: 50 Years of Timeless Music, a special concert held in Chattogram on 2 May. The accompanying video also features footage from the live performance.

E Emon Porichoy, Onumoti Prarthona was written by Salauddin Sajal and composed by Partha Barua. The song served as the title track of Souls’ fifth studio album, released in 1993.

The new arrangement has drawn an enthusiastic response from listeners, with many praising the unplugged rendition.

Formed in Chattogram in 1973, Souls has remained active for more than five decades. The band has released 12 studio albums and performed in Bangladesh and abroad.

The current line-up features Partha Barua on guitar and vocals, Mir Masum on keyboards, Maruf Hasan Talukder on bass guitar and Abhijit Sengupta on drums.
