The second namaz-e-janaza of metro rail bearing pad victim was held at 9:00am on Monday at a madrasa ground near his home, followed by burial in Ishwarkathi village under Naria upazila of Shariatpur.
The body of Abul Kalam Azad has been taken to his ancestral home. A somber atmosphere prevailed as the body arrived in the village on Sunday night.
Earlier on Sunday night, hundreds of people attended his first Namaz-e-janaza at Baitul Falah Jame Mosque in Naya Ailpara area of Siddhirganj around 10:00pm.
Before that, around 9:00pm, Kalam’s body was brought to his rented residence in Naya Ailpara, where heart-wrenching scenes unfolded as his family members broke down in tears.
The entire neighborhood was engulfed in grief. Locals and relatives urged the government to take responsibility for the family’s livelihood.
Abul Kalam Azad worked at a travel agency in Dhaka, selling airline tickets. He lived in Siddhirganj’s Ailpara area with his wife and two children.
On Sunday afternoon, around 12:15pm, a heavy metro rail bearing pad fell near the Bangladesh Agricultural Institute, adjacent to the Farmgate Metro Station, killing Abul Kalam on the spot.
