As Eid approaches, showbiz stars are sharing how they plan to celebrate the festival, blending family traditions, childhood memories and festive routines.
From prayers and village visits to city celebrations and movie releases, stars from across film and music reflect on what makes Eid special for them and the moments that have stayed with them since childhood.
Habib Wahid:
My most memorable Eid experiences are from my childhood. This year, I will spend my Eid mainly with family and friends. For this Eid, I am releasing only one song for the Eid special ‘Ityadi’.
Abdun Noor Sajal
Our grandfather’s house is in Old Dhaka, which has a unique Eid tradition. I remember those days vividly and still make a point to visit Old Dhaka for Eid. I will pray in the morning and spend time with my family. Close friends and relatives usually come over during the holiday and I will enjoy their company.
Ayesha Salma Mukti
I don’t have any specific plans for Eid and will celebrate with my mother in Dhaka. I do hope to attend the Eid Jamaat prayers, which I really want to do. I have many fond childhood memories of Eid; one of them is that my friends and I used to take rickshaw rides around the city.

As usual, I will go to Rajshahi for the Eid holidays and spend time with my family. I also plan to hang out with friends, go fishing and travel. I hope to make the most of the holiday.

I will celebrate Eid in Dhaka, and after the festival, the family plans to visit our village. As a child, we used to share the joy of Eid with everyone, but now that is no longer possible, as everyone is busy with work.

Being involved in films, I plan to watch the Eid releases. My childhood Eid memories are the most vivid and joyful, particularly receiving salami. We used to eat so much in one day that it made up for the month of fasting. Growing up hasn’t changed the essence of Eid, but those childhood experiences remain special.

Today’s children may not experience that same joy, but those memories remain cherished.

I don’t have any special plans. Life has changed since I married and started a family. Eid is celebrated with both sides of the family and, since my marriage, has always been at my in-laws’. Still, I treasure my childhood Eid memories in Khulna, when we would wait for our salaries and then enjoy the excitement of buying new clothes.

I will celebrate Eid in Dhaka. My long-awaited film ‘Rakkhosh’ is releasing during the festival, so I will be splitting my time between family and fans. It promises to be a busy but joyful holiday.

Eid is not just about joy; it teaches harmony, sacrifice and humanity. I have spent many Eids with loved ones, giving gifts and enjoying family time. This year will be no different and I plan to indulge in food without worrying about dietary restrictions.

Childhood Eids were the happiest for me, and I miss those days dearly. I grew up in Chittagong, where the night before Eid was always filled with fun and laughter with friends. Eid plans in the US are fairly quiet, as I don’t have many Bengali friends here. After prayers, I will spend time with my Thikana family, meet close friends and catch up on news from home. I also plan to visit the theatres. My childhood Eids in Pirojpur were unforgettable. We would set up small shops by the roadside and with the money we earned, my friend would rent a bicycle and I would watch films. Becoming a public figure has changed how I spend my Eid. However, I still enjoy the festival.
