Shoriful Islam created history in Mackay as he became the first Bangladesh fast bowler to take seven wickets in an innings in international cricket.
The left-arm pacer completed figures of 7 for 46 as Australia were bowled out for 210 in their first innings on day two of the second Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena.
Shoriful had already taken six wickets on the opening day before returning to remove Cameron Green for 67 on Sunday morning. He trapped Green lbw with a superb yorker to complete his seven-wicket haul.
His figures are also the best by a Bangladesh bowler in an away Test, adding another record to a remarkable spell in Australia.
Shoriful removed some of Australia’s biggest names during the innings and troubled the batters with movement and bounce throughout.
The performance has made his return even more special after he recovered from a hamstring injury ahead of the series.
Taijul Islam took the final wicket, dismissing Josh Hazlewood for six, as Australia finished on 210. Nathan Lyon remained unbeaten on 32.
Bangladesh were earlier bowled out for 76, meaning Australia secured a first-innings lead of 134 runs.
