Shoaib Akhtar, the legendary Pakistani fast bowler, is set to join Dhaka Capitals as their mentor for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League season. The Dhaka franchise confirmed the news on their official Facebook page.

Last season, Pakistan’s famous off-spinner Saeed Ajmal served as Dhaka’s mentor. For this new season, the team has chosen another Pakistani star, Shoaib Akhtar, to guide the players and help them perform better.

Shoaib Akhtar, widely known as the Rawalpindi Express, has become a well-known media personality since retiring from professional cricket. He often appears on television shows and programs where he shares his analysis and opinions about different aspects of the game.

Dhaka Capitals is one of the two teams that have continued in the BPL this season. Last season was the team’s first participation in the league, and it created a lot of excitement off the field. The team is owned by popular actor Shakib Khan, whose presence in the stadium brought together cricket fans and movie lovers. Although their on-field performance last season was not very strong, this year the team has strengthened their squad by adding star players like Taskin Ahmed and Saif Hassan.

The twelfth season of the Bangladesh Premier League will feature five franchises and is expected to begin on 19 December 2025. The final match is likely to be held on 16 January 2026. Before the season starts, the player auction is scheduled for 30 November 2025. With Shoaib Akhtar joining as mentor and new star players added to the team, Dhaka Capitals hope to perform much better this season and excite their fans both on and off the field.
