After 36 years, Chattogram University (CU) witnessed the CUCSU elections, where Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed “Shompreetir Shikkharthi Jot” candidates dominated, securing 24 out of 26 positions. The remaining two positions were won by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and the “Binirman Shikkharthi Oikkyo” panel.
In this election, Ibrahim Hossain Rony from the Shibir-backed panel was elected Vice President (VP) with 7,983 votes, while his closest rival, BCL’s Sajjad Hossain Hridoy, received 4,373 votes. Saeed Bin Habib from the same panel was elected General Secretary (GS) with 8,031 votes, defeating BCL’s Shafayet Hossain, who earned 2,724 votes.
The third highest position, the Assistant General Secretary (AGs), went to BCL’s Ayubur Rahman Toufiq, who garnered 7,014 votes, defeating Shibir’s Sajjat Hossain Munna, who received 5,045 votes. The Assistant Sports Secretary position was won by Tamanna Mahfuz Smriti, representing the Binirman Shikkharthi Oikkyo panel.
Shibir’s victory continued in other executive positions as well. Among the 17 other editorial posts, all winners were Shibir-backed candidates. Some of them include:
