Seven people have died from confirmed measles infection and suspected symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In its latest update, the DGHS control room said of the deceased, two were confirmed measles patients who died in Chattogram Division.
The remaining five deaths were classified as suspected measles cases-two in Rajshahi Division and one each in Barishal Division, Khulna Division, and Sylhet Division.
Health officials noted that confirmed measles-related deaths have been comparatively higher in Cox’s Bazar District.
During the same 24-hour period, 373 new cases were confirmed, while 1,281 individuals were identified as suspected measles patients.
DGHS data shows that since 15 March, 2026, suspected measles cases have risen to 44,260 nationwide.
Laboratory tests have confirmed 6,099 infections during the same period.
Total deaths have reached 324, including 56 confirmed measles-related fatalities and 268 suspected cases.
At present, 30,885 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country, while 27,223 have recovered and been discharged.
A divisional breakdown shows that Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new cases in the past 24 hours, with 122 confirmed infections and 569 suspected cases.
Chattogram Division reported 39 confirmed cases, while Rajshahi Division recorded 23 cases. Sylhet Division reported 182 suspected cases, the highest among all divisions. Additionally, confirmed cases included two in Khulna Division, one in Barishal Division, and two in Rangpur Division.
Meanwhile, the government is continuing its National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 to contain the outbreak.
Since its launch on 5 April, a total of 16,821,605 children have been vaccinated, achieving 101 percent of the target, according to officials.
In the last 24 hours alone, 687,778 children received measles and rubella vaccines nationwide, the DGHS added.
