Two separate fire incidents occurred in the Akbar Shah and Sagarika areas of Chattogram on Sunday, affecting a slum and a food storage facility.
In the evening, a fire broke out in a slum consisting of multiple rooms near the railway line on Zakir Hossain Road, situated within the Akbar Shah Police Station area. According to sources from the Agrabad control room of the fire service, the blaze started at approximately 7:45pm on Sunday.
Two units from the Agrabad station were dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control after half an hour of effort.
A fire service official mentioned that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damages are yet to be determined.
Earlier that same day, at 11:40am, another fire was reported at a BD Foods fish storage facility in the Sagarika area. This incident originated from an electrical short circuit. Eight units of the fire service arrived at the location to battle the flames, eventually bringing the fire under control by 1:30pm. The fire was completely extinguished by 4:30pm.
