BNP Standing Committee member and BNP candidate for Dhaka-8 Mirza Abbas has said that no one works being hopeless of victory.
Mirza Abbas said these things to the media while conducting public outreach in the areas near Shantibag School and the Old Ramna Thana Jame Mosque on Thursday afternoon, the first day of his election campaign.
He said, “I am also optimistic about victory in the election. In the past, I have won in every fair election. If the election is free and fair, I will be victorious this time as well.”
He said, “I fear election engineering. A section of the government will try to defeat certain specific candidates. I don’t know if we will be harmed there. But they will try. Yet, given the morale I have seen among our workers, we will overcome all sorts of conspiracies and snatch victory.”
He said, “When the head of state indicates specific individuals by saying they will win, it means attempts will be made to make them win. I could say many things publicly, but I will not. I know many things. I can prove that a section of the government is trying to make certain candidates win.”
Referring to a rival in the electoral constituency, he said, “The way they are speaking beyond the bounds of decency, I cannot respond to it given my age and position. Whatever they say, I think I have no loss in it.”
Referring to the rival candidate, he said, “The boy is hitting me in such a place that I would react. But the boy doesn’t understand that my age for reacting is over. If, yes, if I were his age, then maybe the situation would be different. He is even younger than my son. Just as my son acts mischievously at home, I have assumed that he is acting mischievously like my son.”
