A new web film titled ‘Sarar Shongshar,’ based on the popular novel ‘Artonad’ by legendary Bangla thriller writer Kazi Anwar Hossain, is currently in production.
The film is slated for release on OTT platform iScreen during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The first look of the web film was unveiled on Thursday (14 May) evening. The poster carries the tagline: “One mistake and a mother’s difficult battle…”
An iScreen exerpt read: “Who is Sara? Based on Kazi Anwar Hossain’s novel Artonad, Sarar Shongshar is coming this Eid exclusively on iScreen.”
The web film has been directed by ‘Kaler Putul’ filmmaker Aka Reza Ghalib. The director said the story has been adapted into a contemporary setting while retaining the thriller and emotional essence of the original novel.
Special emphasis has been placed on familial conflict and a mother’s struggle.
Production sources said Impress Telefilm acquired the rights to adapt the novel through an agreement with Kazi Anwar Hossain’s family. The project was later developed under the title Sarar Shongshar.
According to the director, the film is not merely a thriller, but also a story about the consequences of a mistake, family crisis and a woman’s psychological and real-life struggles.
The cast of the web film has not yet been officially announced. However, the trailer and cast list are expected to be revealed soon.
The return of a screen adaptation based on Kazi Anwar Hossain’s literary work after a long time has already generated significant interest among readers and audiences.
Industry insiders believe the female-centric story, adapted from a novel by the creator of Masud Rana, will add a distinct dimension to this year’s Eid OTT content lineup.
