At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, one historic moment stole the spotlight: Rosé’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, ‘APT.’, was named Song of the Year. This marks the first time a K-pop act has ever won this prestigious award at the VMAs.
In a heartfelt and lengthy acceptance speech, Rosé expressed gratitude to Bruno Mars, her BLACKPINK bandmates, her fans, parents and her team.
She also dedicated the award to her younger self, “I feared that pursuing my dreams might someday disappoint my 16-year-old self, the girl who always felt like an oddball yet dreamed of being herself. 12 years later, I dedicate this award to that dreamer and to everyone who has watched me grow into the artist I am today.”
APT. has earned critical acclaim worldwide. BLACKPINK also shone at the awards. The group won Best Group, while Rosé’s bandmate Lisa claimed Best K-pop for Born Again, featuring Doja Cat and RAYE.
Other major wins included Ariana Grande for Video of the Year (Brighter Days Ahead), Lady Gaga as Artist of the Year and Mariah Carey receiving the Video Vanguard Award for her legendary career.
The night also featured a moving tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, with Yungblud joining Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry for a touching performance.
