Robi Axiata PLC on Monday distributed cricket kits to 90 emerging cricketers from more than 50 cricket academies across Bangladesh under a grassroots development initiative aimed at supporting young sporting talent.
The kits were handed over at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) office, where former national cricketers Shahriar Nafees, Shafaq Al Zabir and current national team spinner Taijul Islam presented the equipment to selected “Young Tigers”.
BCB and Robi representatives were also present at the event.
The initiative, titled “Ebar Notun Shopno Gortey Parbey Tumio”, is designed to support aspiring cricketers by providing basic training resources and structured encouragement to progress in the sport.
Robi said the distribution followed its campaign during the Bangladesh–Pakistan ODI series in March, under which it pledged 10 cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in the series.
The campaign was integrated into live broadcasts and stadium activations at Mirpur, with milestone messages displayed on screen each time a team reached the 100-run mark.
Based on total runs scored by both sides, 90 kits were allocated for distribution.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board assisted in identifying eligible young players from academies nationwide to ensure targeted support at grassroots level.
Robi said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to promote sports development and nurture youth talent through community-level engagement.
