A24 has set a nationwide theatrical release date of 25 September for Primetime, the upcoming film starring and produced by Robert Pattinson, following its selection for the Venice International Film Festival, according to Deadline.
Directed by documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim, the film is set in 2006 and follows television personality Chris Hansen as he prepares to make television history with To Catch a Predator.
Pattinson portrays the NBC Dateline correspondent, who became widely known for confronting suspected child predators with the assistance of law enforcement officers and decoys posing as minors online.
Ajon Singh wrote the screenplay. Pattinson also produces the film with Brighton McCloskey through their production company Icki Eneo Arlo. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone also serve as producers.
Primetime will face strong competition at the North American box office on 25 September. Other wide releases scheduled for the same day include Paramount’s Heart of the Beast, starring Brad Pitt and directed by David Ayer; Disney and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame Encore; DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island; Bleecker Street’s horror film Victorian Psycho; and Roadside Attractions’ horror title Crawlers.
