Renowned banking professional and visionary leader Riad Mahmud Chowdhury has joined Standard Islami Bank PLC as its managing director.
Prior to this appointment, Riad served as deputy managing director and head of Corporate Banking at Eastern Bank PLC, reads a press release.
He began his banking career in 2000 as a senior officer at IFIC Bank PLC. He subsequently worked at AB Bank PLC before joining Eastern Bank PLC in 2004.
Over more than 26 years of his distinguished career in banking, he has demonstrated notable success in managing large corporate portfolios and non-performing loans, as well as in developing specialised Islamic banking frameworks and implementing digital cross-border trade solutions.
In recognition of his strategic vision, strong leadership, in-depth banking knowledge and innovative mindset, Riad has consistently achieved significant success at every stage of his professional career.
He obtained his B.Com and M.Com in Finance from the University of Dhaka and later completed his MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.
He also holds internationally recognised certification in Commercial Credit Analysis from Moody’s and Omega Corporation (UK).
The board of directors of the bank expressed confidence that under Riad’s dynamic leadership and modern banking vision, the bank will achieve new milestones and further strengthen its position as a leading Shari’ah-based financial institution in Bangladesh.
