According to reports circulating in Indian media, Ranbir Kapoor is preparing to revive his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s iconic banner, RK Films, with a new feature project. The actor is said to be deeply invested in restoring the legacy of the studio and reintroducing its classic cinematic flavour to a contemporary audience.
Early whispers suggest the project may be a modern reinterpretation of the beloved 1956 film ‘Chori Chori’. Ranbir is reportedly keen on creating a film that blends the charm of Raj Kapoor’s era with a fresh, modern sensibility. His team, too, is said to be energised by the ambition of the endeavour.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the project is the casting choice. While many had speculated that Alia Bhatt might headline the film, Ranbir is believed to have finalised Deepika Padukone for the lead role. The pair’s previous films, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Tamasha’, all enjoyed immense popularity, thanks in no small part to their effortless screen chemistry.
Adding to the excitement, Ranbir has reportedly entrusted the director’s chair to Ayan Mukerji, one of his closest collaborators. Following the success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the Ranbir–Ayan team is set for a reunion of its own. Mukerji is understood to have been developing the script for several months and views the project as a significant milestone in his career.
