A total of 33 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across Dhaka and surrounding industrial areas to ensure security at garment factories, maintain law and order, and protect public safety amid labour unrest.
According to officials, three platoons have been deployed in Mirpur, 11 in Savar and Ashulia, 12 in Gazipur, and seven in Narayanganj.
Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Riot Control Vehicles (RCVs) have also been deployed to tackle any untoward situation and strengthen security operations.
To make security operations more effective, BGB is using technology-based surveillance, including live drone monitoring. Personnel on duty are also equipped with body-worn cameras and improvised body-worn cameras.
All operations are being monitored and coordinated round the clock by the Monitoring Cell at BGB Headquarters.
BGB personnel remain on high alert and are working closely with the local administration and police to maintain a peaceful environment in industrial areas and prevent potential incidents. The overall situation in the areas is being closely monitored.
BGB said the security measures would continue to ensure public safety, maintain a normal working environment in industrial zones and keep the law and order situation stable.
