The Dhaka University (DU) administration has organised a special prayer gathering for the quick recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
The prayer was held after Zuhr on Sunday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building Mosque of the university.
Speaking at the event, DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan said, “We are deeply concerned over Khaleda Zia’s illness.

Her significant contributions to society and the country are recognised across all sections, regardless of political affiliation. The large turnout at today’s gathering reflects people’s affection for her.”
“Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) placed great importance on checking on the sick, praying for them, and boosting their morale. We have gathered today with that noble intention. We sincerely pray that Khaleda Zia recovers soon and regains the ability to serve the welfare of the people,” he added.
Also present were DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Abdus Salam, Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, along with teachers, officers, and staff of the university.
After the prayer, a special munajat was offered seeking peace and prosperity for the country, the nation, the Muslim Ummah, and the recovery of all who are ill.
