Even before its first instalment reaches cinemas, Ramayana has secured one of the biggest music deals in Indian film history. The makers have signed an agreement with T-Series for the music rights to both films in a deal valued at Rs 75 crore.
According to NDTV, the agreement follows interest from several leading music labels before T-Series secured the rights after multiple rounds of discussions. The reported Rs 75 crore has been structured as a refundable advance rather than a conventional music rights purchase.
A close associate of T-Series confirmed the acquisition, saying the company and its chairman, Bhushan Kumar, have strong confidence in the soundtrack’s potential. The associate also confirmed that the Rs 75 crore advance covers the music rights for both instalments of the epic.
The deal reflects growing confidence in Ramayana, particularly its music. The film has already generated considerable excitement after the announcement that Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer are collaborating for the first time on an Indian feature.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Planned as a two-part cinematic event, the first film is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, while the second instalment is set to arrive during Diwali 2027.
