Star Cineplex is marking its 22nd anniversary with a special offer for moviegoers. On 8 October, customers who buy one cinema ticket at any Star Cineplex branch will receive another ticket free.
The offer will be available only for tickets purchased at the counters and will apply to any film and any show across all branches. The authorities have said the offer will be valid for one day only.
Moviegoers will also have a chance to win a free movie voucher by sharing their favourite Star Cineplex memory.
To participate, viewers need to visit the cinema chain’s Facebook page and share their most memorable experience of watching a film there. Further details are available on the page.
Star Cineplex opened on 8 October 2004 as Bangladesh’s first multiplex cinema. Its arrival introduced a new era of cinema-going in the country, with spacious halls, modern interiors and advanced sound technology.
The multiplex also helped revive the culture of watching films with family and gave Bangladeshi audiences the opportunity to watch Hollywood releases on their international release dates.
On several occasions, popular films have drawn long queues, while tickets for some releases have sold out online days before opening.
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, a spokesperson for Star Cineplex, expressed gratitude to audiences for supporting the multiplex over the past 22 years.
“The journey is undoubtedly a source of joy. New things have come with time, and their success depends on how well people accept them. The biggest strength behind Star Cineplex’s journey has been the love of audiences,” he said.
He also expressed hope that Bangladesh would produce more quality films so that cinemas could remain consistently busy with local audiences.
Star Cineplex currently has branches at Bashundhara City, Shimanto Shambhar Dhanmondi, SKS Tower in Mohakhali, Military Museum, Sony Square Mirpur, Centre Point Uttara and Shimanto Tower Narayanganj in Dhaka, as well as Bali Arcade and Finlay Square in Chattogram.
The company is also working to open branches in Bogura and Rajshahi and plans to expand to more areas of Dhaka.
