Family dramas are once again finding a place in Bangladesh’s television landscape, with audiences showing renewed interest in stories centred on everyday relationships and household struggles.
Idris Haider’s ‘Amader Songsar’ is among the recent productions drawing attention in this trend.
Written and directed by Idris Haider, the family serial aired its 50th episode two days ago. The drama is being released on a YouTube channel and has already generated discussion among viewers.
Ekushey Padak-winning actress Dilara Zaman plays the grandmother in the series, while Sheikh Swapna appears as her daughter-in-law. Shishir Ahmed plays her grandson. Reshma Ahmed, Anannya Islam, Dimple Ahmed and Sarika Ahmed are also part of the cast.
Dilara Zaman said she has received several offers for family dramas recently but chooses projects based on the quality of their stories. She said she liked the story of ‘Amader Songsar’ and was encouraged by the response it has received.
She also welcomed the renewed interest in family-centred stories, saying it is encouraging to see such narratives returning to the industry.
Shishir Ahmed, who has been busy with regular drama work, said Idris Haider gave him an important role in the serial. He also described working with Dilara Zaman as a privilege.
“Being able to work with Dilara Zaman is a great honour for me. I am grateful to Idris Haider for the opportunity. It is also encouraging to see ‘Amader Songsar’ becoming increasingly popular with viewers,” Shishir said.
With its 50th episode now completed, the serial continues to build its audience around familiar family relationships and the emotional dynamics of everyday life.
