The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) has intensified patrols and security measures along the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway and within Cumilla city to ensure traveller safety and maintain law and order during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.
Authorities said the surge of shoppers at markets and business centres ahead of the festival has increased the risk of theft, mugging, and robbery. In response, RAB has deployed reinforced patrols at key points across the city.
Operations have been extended late into the night at strategic locations, including Kandirpar, Paduar Bazar Bishwaroad, and Kotbari Bishwaroad. Checkposts have been set up along the highway and within the city to search suspicious vehicles, including private cars, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles.
Major Sadman Ibn Alam, Deputy Director of RAB-11, said patrols are also monitoring transport counters to ensure fair fares and maintain the quality of passenger services.
Intelligence surveillance by plainclothes personnel has been increased alongside regular patrols to prevent potential sabotage, avert untoward incidents, and raise public awareness during the holiday period.
