A new biography about Prince Harry, which claims Queen Camilla allegedly said he had been “brainwashed” by his wife Meghan, has been dismissed by the Duke of Sussex’s spokesperson as a “deranged conspiracy.”
Harry and Meghan have remained estranged from the British royal family since stepping back from official duties in 2020 and relocating to California, yet public interest in the couple remains high in the UK and internationally.
In extracts published by The Times, author Tom Bower, known for his previous royal biographies, suggests that tensions between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and other members of the royal family began shortly after their 2018 wedding. Bower also claims that Prince William and his wife Kate viewed Meghan as a threat to Harry, and that Camilla reportedly told a friend that “Meghan’s brainwashed Harry.”
The book reportedly describes Harry’s reaction to his uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s fall from grace, noting concerns that similar family actions could affect him. Andrew lost all his titles and was removed from his home following his connection to the late convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a rare and strongly worded statement, Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson said Bower had “long crossed the line from criticism into fixation.” The statement continued: “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla, while representatives for Prince William and Kate did not immediately respond.
