Richarlison struck a dramatic late equaliser as Tottenham Hotspur held Liverpool FC to a 1–1 draw at Anfield on Sunday, denying the hosts a chance to move into the top four of the Premier League.
Liverpool had taken the lead in the 18th minute through a superb free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai, but they struggled to maintain control of the match and failed to capitalise on their early advantage.
Tottenham remained a threat throughout, with Richarlison particularly lively in attack. The Brazilian forward finally made the breakthrough in the 89th minute, firing a low shot past goalkeeper Alisson Becker to earn Spurs a valuable point in their fight to avoid relegation.
The draw lifted Liverpool above Chelsea FC into fifth place with 49 points from 30 matches, while Tottenham’s first point in six league games left them 16th with 30 points — just one point clear of the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Manchester United strengthened their hold on third place with a 3–1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Goals from Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and substitute Benjamin Šeško sealed the win for the hosts after Ross Barkley had briefly brought Villa level.
United opened the scoring in the 53rd minute when Casemiro headed home from a corner delivered by Bruno Fernandes. Villa responded in the 64th minute as Barkley finished from close range to make it 1–1.
The contest appeared to be drifting towards a draw before Cunha restored United’s lead in the 71st minute, finishing from the left side of the penalty area after a precise through ball from Fernandes. The assist marked Fernandes’ club-record 16th in a Premier League season and his 100th assist for United across all competitions.
Šeško then secured the result 10 minutes later with a powerful strike from the centre of the box.
The victory moved Manchester United to 54 points from 30 matches, strengthening their grip on third place. Aston Villa remain fourth with 51 points as the race for Champions League qualification continues to intensify.
