Actress and model Porshi Rumi has been away from acting for some time, but she remains eager to return to the screen.
Rumi currently lives at her home in Major Tila, Sylhet, after leaving Dhaka for personal and family reasons. Although she is away from the media, she said she often misses acting and hopes to return when circumstances allow.
Meanwhile, she has started a small home-based cake business in Sylhet. She manages the business herself, taking online orders and delivering different types of cakes. The venture has already attracted customers from Sylhet and nearby areas.
“I thought I would return to acting this year, but that did not happen. I really love acting and have done some good work. For now, however, I need to stay in Sylhet because of personal and family responsibilities. I ask everyone to pray for me,” Rumi said.
Rumi also dreams of acting in a good film. She previously participated in ATN Bangla’s Nattyayuddho and Channel i’s Lux Superstar, reaching notable positions in both competitions.
She made her acting debut in Mannan Shafik’s drama Ek Bindu Jol. She later worked in Jonaki Jole directed by Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and Atmasat by Gazi Badruzzaman, among other productions.
Rumi gained wider attention through folk singer Kishore Palash’s music video Deho Dingi, in which Sabbir Ahmed was her co-star. Despite her current break, she still hopes to work in films with strong stories.
