Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolan and Pir Saheb Charmonai, has asserted that the liberation and change desired by the people cannot be achieved simply by changing leaders without a fundamental change in policies.
Addressing several election rallies in Tangail on Tuesday, Rezaul Karim noted that while the July mass uprising created an opportunity to dismantle old arrangements and policies, political parties are currently working to maintain the existing vested interests.
He claimed that Islami Andolan is the only organisation fighting solo against the old establishment and called upon the public to support this struggle.
The rallies, which took place from Wednesday afternoon through the evening, covered constituencies 2, 3, 4, and 6, including areas in Kalihati, Tangail Sadar, and Delduar.
Urging those who love the country and seek a “new arrangement” to vote for the “Hand Fan” symbol, Rezaul Karim promised that if his party assumes power, there will be no corruption, terrorism, extortion, or money laundering.
He further stated that Islam ensures the security and dignity of people of all religions and serves as a sanctuary for all.
During the events, special guest Professor Mahbubur Rahman discussed the party’s manifesto, themed “Bangladesh of People’s Expectations.” He highlighted that the manifesto prioritises the predominance of Sharia, youth employment, and a work-oriented education system.
Rahman noted that the public can place their trust in this manifesto as it was declared by an Aleem and Pir who has never faltered on his word.
Alhajj Akhinur Mia, the candidate for the Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) seat, also addressed the crowds, stating that the region has long been deprived.
He pledged that if elected as an MP, he would ensure infrastructure development and job creation for the youth, while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and terrorism.
Other notable speakers at the rallies included Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, the Central Publicity and Dawah Secretary of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and student leader Husain Ibn Sarwar, the Central Vice President of the party’s student wing.
