Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said that the police will be able to prove their professionalism, neutrality, and sense of responsibility in the upcoming national parliament election.
He said this while addressing the ASP entrant officers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch, who were initially selected in 2008 but only recently joined, at the Hall of Integrity in Police Headquarters on Tuesday morning.
The IGP said, “Bangladesh Police is standing at a crucial juncture today. We are working tirelessly to boost the morale of the police force and to restore public trust.”
Greeting the ASP entrants, the IGP said, “This moment is not only a personal success for you; it is the re-establishment of your rightful position. The victory of the anti-discrimination movement led by students and the masses has opened the door for you, finally. You have reclaimed your legitimate rights.”
He said, “Each of you has vast experience from your previous workplaces. That experience will be your strength and serve as a professional guide.”
The police chief said, “Today, we stand in a new world. Crime is increasing in the cyber world, public opinion is being shaped on social media. In the current reality, policing cannot be done with just physical strength or traditional methods. Intelligence, global awareness, and technological adaptability are also required. As future leaders of Bangladesh Police, your integrity and professionalism must also extend to the digital sphere.”
He called upon the ASP entrants to maintain strict adherence to punctuality, discipline, and rules and regulations while undergoing training at the Bangladesh Police Academy.
Among the ASP entrants, there are 60 officers from the 27th batch, one from the 28th batch, and 6 officers from the 43rd batch.
Additional IGP (Administration) AKM Aowlad Hossain, Additional IGP (Finance) Md Akram Hossain, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Additional IGP (Logistics) Musseddin Ahmed, and Additional IGP (Development) Sardar Nurul Amin were present at the event.
It is worth noting that the officers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch were deprived of appointment and obtained their appointments after a prolonged legal process.
