Police recovered the hanging body of a pickup driver from the kitchen of his residence at Harishkhan Para village in Raozan Union of the upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Emdad, 24, a resident of Ward No. 4 of the union.
According to family sources, Emdad returned home at night and had dinner with his wife. He reportedly played with his 18-month-old son until 12:30am before going to bed. However, when family members woke up at dawn and did not find him in bed, they began a search.
At one point, they discovered the kitchen door was locked from the inside. Receiving no response, they broke through the rear part of the kitchen and found Emdad’s body hanging. The family claimed that his behaviour had been normal and no abnormalities were noticed until the previous night.
Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan Police Station, confirmed the incident. He stated that police recovered the body and prepared an inquest report. The body is being sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A police investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death.
Emdad, a pickup driver by profession, married Tania Akhter of Rangamati about two and a half years ago. The couple has a son aged one and a half years.
