Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the primary task during the current season of dengue and chikungunya spread is to destroy mosquito larvae.
The minister made these remarks while joining an online platform on Monday for a programme titled “Mosquito Control Technology,” organised by “Youth to World” at the Engineers Institution in the capital’s Ramna.
He observed that the chemicals currently being utilised for mosquito control have not proven to be very effective.
He suggested that a joint initiative between City Corporations and innovators could achieve success if newly developed technologies are implemented on an experimental basis.
The minister further noted that the technologies currently employed for mosquito extermination are unable to work adequately.
However, he highlighted that a newly discussed technology developed using indigenous chemicals shows significant potential.
