A two-day children’s festival and award ceremony for the National Children’s Cultural Competition ‘Amra Kuri 2026’ began at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday amid a festive atmosphere filled with children’s voices.

The event, jointly organised by national children’s organisation Amra Kuri and Dhaka South City Corporation, opened at the academy’s National Music and Dance Auditorium.

ASM Kamal Uddin, chairman of Amra Kuri’s governing council, presided over the opening ceremony. Dhaka South City Corporation administrator and freedom fighter Abdus Salam attended as the chief guest.

Among the special guests were Bashir Jamal, managing director of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust; Professor Mostafizul Haque, chairman of Shanta Mariam University of Creative Technology; and engineer Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, managing director of Hometech Developer and Builders Ltd.

Organisers said around 40 children’s and youth organisations from across the country will participate in cultural programmes during the two-day event.

The second day will be held at 5:30pm on 4 October at the Dhaka South City Corporation auditorium.
