The Padma and Jamuna bridges have set new records in traffic flow and toll collection during the first three days of Eid holidays.
From Tuesday to Thursday, a total of 119,682 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge, generating tolls of Tk13,21,51,800.
Exactly one year earlier during the same period, 100,802 vehicles had crossed, with tolls amounting to Tk1,20,78,400. This year, Padma Bridge set records in both traffic volume and toll revenue.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Friday disclosed the figures were disclosed in a press release.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday alone, the Jamuna Bridge recorded its highest ever single day traffic, with 51,384 vehicles crossing. In 2025, the highest single day figure was 48,368 vehicles.
On that same day, toll collection reached a record Tk3,51,82,600, surpassing last year’s highest of Tk3,46,27,850.
The release said that despite heavier traffic compared to last year, there were no major accidents or severe traffic jams. It added that these statistics reflect the capability and efficiency of the bridge authorities in managing the country’s road infrastructure.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf, secretary of the Bridge Division and executive director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said, “The Prime Minister has been tirelessly working to make the country’s transport system easier and more modern. In continuation of this, the honorable Minister and State Minister of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges are also highly vigilant regarding the upcoming Eid journeys and are treating the matter with utmost importance.”
