Law enforcers recovered more than 100 ballots stamped with the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol from a polling centre in Sherpur-1 (Sadar) constituency on Thursday morning.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The discovery was made around 9:30am at the South Nalbaid Government Primary School polling centre in Char Mocharia Union of Sherpur Sadar Upazila.
District Election Officer Jahangir Hossain said two BNP supporters allegedly collected the ballots and stamped them with the party symbol before attempting to insert them into the ballot box.
The presiding officer noticed the irregularity and immediately alerted security forces.
The marked ballots were confiscated from the centre, and the two individuals were taken into custody. Officials said the seized ballots will be declared invalid.
Additional security personnel were deployed at the polling station following the incident, and voting has continued without disruption.
Assistant Returning Officer and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbuba Haque said the ballots were recovered before they could be placed in the ballot box.
She confirmed that voting at the centre is now proceeding normally.
