In a major crackdown under Phase-2 of Operation Devil Hunt, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 17 individuals across the city within 24 hours on Tuesday.
The operation spanned several police stations, including Demra, Sutrapur, Mohammadpur, Tejgaon, Khilkhet, Jatrabari, Dhanmondi, and Shahbagh.
Among those arrested, Demra and Sutrapur police each detained two suspects, Mohammadpur three, Tejgaon one, Khilkhet one, Jatrabari five, Dhanmondi two, and Shahbagh one.
The DMP Media and Public Relations Department, in a statement by Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman PPM, confirmed the arrests and said all detainees were sent to court for legal action.
The arrested individuals include Md Sharif, Md Babu Mia alias Babul, Yamin Arafat Sanjay, Md Al-Amin Sardar, Md Nayon, Mujahid Hossain alias Kamran, Md Kabir Hossain, Md Liton Bepari, Md Selim, Md Juel, Md Babu alias Chhoto Babu, Md Haidar Hossain Topu, Md Imran, Md Mahmudul Hasan, Md Karul Islam Shiblu, Md Alamin, and Md Mannan Mia.
Police have assured that further investigations are underway and strict legal measures will be taken against all involved.
