BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has not yet applied for a travel pass to return to the country, and a pass will be issued if he wants one.
Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said this while speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
He said, “So far I know, he has not applied for the travel permit.”
When asked whether Tarique Rahman holds any other passport, he said, “I have no knowledge about that.”
Touhid added that neither Tarique Rahman’s family nor the BNP has formally informed the government about his return.
In response to a question from reporters, the foreign adviser said that if the BNP or the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s family decides, the government will take all necessary measures to send her abroad.
