Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said graduation and sustainable graduation are not the same, stressing that LDC graduation should strengthen rather than constrain a country’s development path.
He was speaking at the LDC‑GIF Mechanism Introduction and High‑Level Dialogue at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Titumir also said that graduating countries still face structural barriers and weak productive capacity, worsened by geopolitical conflicts, supply‑chain disruptions, trade uncertainty, inflation and domestic shocks, according to a press release.
He emphasised that graduation must be backed by strong measures to ensure a smooth and lasting transition through industrialisation, integrated strategies, energy transition and job creation.
Titumir also urged greater financial, technological and capacity‑building support for LDCs, pointing out that actual technology transfer remains far below their needs.
He expressed hope that the LDC Green Industrialization Facilitation (LDC‑GIF) mechanism would help accelerate technology transfer and industrial application, while boosting productive capacity, structural transformation and sustainable graduation.
