Bangladeshi actress Nazifa Tushi has expanded her creative journey into music, with a song in the upcoming film ‘Roid’, as organisers and filmmakers revealed new details about the soundtrack on Sunday.
Tushi recently drew attention after performing at the concert titled ‘Roid Er Gaan’, where her rendition of the song ‘Pagolir Prem Jwala’ received praise from audiences.
It has now been confirmed that the actress has lent her voice to the track for the film.
Speaking about the experience, Tushi said the opportunity carried special significance for her despite being primarily known as an actress.
“Having a song in Roid is very special for me,” she said. “Although acting is my main profession, music has always been a place of love within me. When the Roid team asked me to sing the song, I was nervous about how audiences would react and whether they would accept me as a singer. But the amount of love I have received after singing the track has truly been beyond my expectations.”
Reflecting on her live performance at Rabindra Sarobar, she added: “When I performed ‘Pagolir Prem Jwala’, the audience response inspired me deeply. Everyone embraced the song very warmly. I felt that the song had reached people’s hearts. The story, atmosphere and music of Roid are all very grounded, and that emotion exists within the song as well. I tried to sing it with genuine feeling. I hope audiences will enjoy it even more once it is officially released.”
The lyrics and composition for Pagolir Prem Jwala were created by Boshor Company, while the music arrangement was handled by Sohag Chakraborty.
Three songs from Roid have already been released. The track ‘Roide Aila Ga Jurite’ was written, composed and sung by Rajib Ahmed Raju of the band Shohojia Band, with music direction by Rashid Sharif Shoaib.
Earlier this month, the film also released ‘Mon Chhara Ki Moner Manush Roy’, originally performed by late West Bengal Baul artist Kanai Das Baul. Written by Matan Chand Gosai, the song received a new arrangement from Imon Chowdhury.
The latest release from the soundtrack, ‘Rohe Na’, arrived on May 15 and was performed by Meghdol.
The film stars Mostafizur Noor Imran, Nazifa Tushi and Gazi Rakayet. The story revolves around a saintly man, his mentally unstable wife and a palm tree beside their home, while reinterpreting the ancient narrative of Adam and Eve.
The story for ‘Roid’ was written by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon and Selina Banu Moni. The screenplay was developed by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon alongside Jahin Faruk Amin, Siddik Ahmed, Rafiqul Islam Poltu and Sukorno Shahed Dhiman.
