A member of Bangladesh Navy was killed in a road accident on the Hathazari-Oxygen Highway in Chattogram on Monday morning.
The deceased Delowar Hossain, 30, son of Md Miraj Mia of Chikonchhara in Baghanbazar Union, Fatikchhari, served as a sailor in the Bangladesh Navy.
Delowar was on his way to work when the accident occurred near Mistri Ghata in Lalearhat, Chikondondi Union.
Pedestrians found him injured beside a road divider and rushed him to a private hospital in Hathazari, where doctors pronounced him dead
His cousin, Jahidul Islam Forhad, said, “Delowar joined the Navy in 2013. He was heading to work when the accident occurred. We received the shocking news early this morning.”
Raozan Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ullah confirmed the incident and said they have received reports of one death in a road accident. A team is at the scene, and further details will be known after investigation.
The incident adds to a series of recent accidents in Hathazari, where six people, including Emran Chowdhury, president of the Hathazari Upazila Swecchasebak Dal, have died in separate road accidents over the past week.
