DMP Joint Commissioner Md Mahidul Islam has said disputes over land possession may be linked to the attack, vandalism and looting at content creator Salman Mohammad Muqtadir’s studio at ECB Chattar in Dhaka.
He made the remarks during a press briefing at the site on Sunday.
A group of people carried out the vandalism, he said adding that Cantonment Police Station officer‑in‑charge and other officials rushed to the scene, brought the situation under control and arrested two people on the spot.
Another was arrested later that night, he confirmed.
“Legal proceedings are underway, and all those involved will be brought under the law,” he said.
Asked whether Dhaka is turning into a city of looting and land grabbing, he replied, “I came here with the full team, inspected and investigated. Each incident is detected immediately when it occurs.”
On the attackers’ identities, he said the matter is still under investigation. “Among them, one is Mamun, from Gafargaon, living in the Bhashantek slum. Another is Aslam, from Tangail, who drives an auto‑rickshaw. The third is Munna, also from the Bhashantek slum.”
“After interrogation, we may get more information. For now, it appears to be connected to housing business disputes. So many people coming together at night suggests a conflict over land possession. Since it is under investigation, we will know clearly once it is complete.”
When asked with whom the dispute was, he said, “I cannot say clearly at this moment.”
On whether extortion money was demanded from Salman Muqtadir, he said, “We have no such information at this stage. Our preliminary impression is that it may be a dispute between groups over land. Proper investigation will reveal the facts.”
