Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the government is fully prepared to conduct the upcoming 13th national election in a free and fair manner.
He said, “Our preparations for the election are very good. We have taken every measure to ensure it is held in a free, fair, peaceful, and credible way.”
The adviser made the remark while responding to journalists after a meeting of the advisory council on law and order at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Secretariat.
According to Adviser Jahangir, law enforcement agencies are undergoing election-related training to manage the polls effectively, with the expectation that the training will be completed by January. “Training is essential to ensure the election runs smoothly,” he added.
He also urged authorities to arrange alternatives so that voting is not disrupted by possible electricity outages.
“This time, polling will take place from 7:30am to 4:30pm, as the Election Commission has extended the voting period by one hour,” he said.
