Two young men were killed and three easybike (battery-run autorickshaw) passengers were injured on Friday afternoon when a motorcycle collided with an easybike on the old Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Chandpur tea garden area of Chunarughat Upazila, Habiganj district.
The deceased were identified as Nayan Mia, 23, son of Abdul Kaiyum of Satang village, and Muhaddis Mia, 22, son of Azgar Khan of Halhalia village in the upazila.
The injured easybike passengers are Md Jasim Mia, 28, son of Abul Kalam of Halhalia village; Md Sihab Mia, 25, son of Hanif Mia of Satang Bazar; and Jubel, 20, son of Didar Mia of Pakuria village.
According to Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam, Mohaddis Mia and his friend Nayan had gone to visit the Chandpur tea garden on a motorcycle on Friday afternoon. On their return journey, their motorcycle collided with an easybike on the road adjacent to the tea garden, killing Mohaddis and Nayan on the spot and injuring three easybike passengers.
Upon receiving the information, police from Chunarughat Police Station rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies of the deceased, and sent the injured victims to Habiganj District Sadar Modern Hospital for treatment.
