National University VC pays tribute to Language Martyrs

On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, ASM Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, paid homage to the language movement martyrs at the central Shaheed Minar on Saturday.

In the first hour of the day, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, teachers, officials, students, and staff of all levels of the university offered floral tributes at the Shaheed Minar, reads a press release.

Joining the Vice-Chancellor were Pro-Vice Chancellors Md Lutfor Rahman and Md Nurul Islam, Treasurer ATM Zaforul Azam, deans (acting) of various faculties, Registrar (current responsibilities), controller of examinations, as well as heads of university departments, teachers, officials, students, and staff.

At the university’s main campus in Gaziapur, floral tributes were also offered at the Smriti Minar. Similarly, affiliated colleges and regional centres of the university observed the day with appropriate solemnity.

In the morning, the national flag and the university flag were flown at half-mast at the Gaziapur campus, Dhaka city office in Dhanmondi, and regional centres. Black flags were also hoisted, and teachers, officials, students, and staff wore black badges in respect of the day.
