National Bank PLC has appointed Zahidul Haque as Deputy Managing Director effective 2 July 2026, according to a press release said. The appointment marks his entry into the senior leadership team of the bank as it strengthens its focus on digital transformation and retail banking strategy.
Haque brings more than 26 years of experience across information and communication technology and banking, including a long tenure at Eastern Bank PLC, where he served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO). His appointment places him at National Bank PLC in Dhaka, where he will contribute to strategic and operational leadership.
At Eastern Bank PLC, he spent 15 years building and scaling the institution’s technology organisation and also held senior leadership roles across retail and digital banking functions. These included Head of Alternative Distribution Channels, Head of Digital Banking and Payments, and Head of Liability and Wealth Management, giving him experience spanning customer strategy, revenue generation and digital service delivery.
His cross-functional experience combines banking operations with technology leadership, positioning him at the intersection of financial performance and digital innovation, the bank said.
Haque holds an MBA in Financial Management and a BBA in Marketing Management from the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Dhaka. He has also participated in international conferences, workshops and training programmes focused on emerging technologies and global banking innovation.
