Popular model, dancer and actress Sadia Islam Mou has alleged that several fake Facebook accounts have been created using her name. She claims these accounts are regularly posting statuses, uploading photos and commenting on posts belonging to people she knows, causing confusion and embarrassment.
Mou said she has only one personal Facebook account, under the name ‘Sadia Islam’. She does not operate any Facebook ID or page under the name ‘Sadia Islam Mou’, nor does she have accounts on other social media platforms, including Instagram.
Addressing the issue, she said, “I respectfully ask those who are deliberately opening fake accounts in my name and spreading confusion to stop this immediately. Posting photos and writing content without my permission is a punishable offence under the law.”
She confirmed that legal steps have already been taken and warned that stricter action would follow if the activity continues. Mou also urged fans, viewers and acquaintances to remain cautious.
“Please do not be misled into connecting with fake accounts. I repeat, I do not have a fan page and I do not have an Instagram account. Those involved in these activities should be careful. Otherwise, the legal consequences will take their course,” she said.
Mou has been active in the country’s entertainment industry since the 1990s, although she maintains a limited presence on social media. Expressing frustration over the misuse of her name and images online, she added that she would pursue stronger legal measures if the impersonation does not stop.
