Dhaka Division produced a commanding performance to defeat Rangpur Division by 71 runs in the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on 26 september 2025. Batting first, Dhaka posted 171 for 3, thanks to half-centuries from Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Ariful Islam. Rangpur, in reply, were bowled out for 100 in just 17.1 overs.
Dhaka’s innings got off to a shaky start after losing the toss. Opener Ashikur Rahman Shibli was dismissed without scoring, while Zisan Alam fell for 17 from 16 balls, caught off Mukidul Islam Mugdho’s delivery. Ariful Islam then steadied the innings, putting together a 32-run partnership with Zisan and later combining with captain Mahidul Islam Ankon, who scored 22, to guide the team forward. At 67 for 3, Mosaddek joined Ariful to forge a 104-run partnership, both reaching half-centuries. Ariful finished unbeaten on 59 from 49 balls, hitting six fours and a six.
Mosaddek’s innings was the highlight, reaching fifty in just 28 balls before finishing 64 not out off 32 deliveries at a strike rate of 200, with five fours and four sixes. His aggressive batting dominated the Rangpur bowlers and helped Dhaka post a competitive total. Mosaddek also contributed with the ball, taking a wicket, and was named man of the match for his all-round performance.
Chasing 172, Rangpur struggled from the start, losing their first wicket on the very first ball and regularly losing wickets thereafter. Najim Islam top-scored with 26 off 37 balls, while Alauddin made 21, Abu Hashim 25, and captain Akbar Ali 12. Experienced Nasir Hossain managed just 2 from 10 balls. Rangpur were eventually bowled out for 100 in 17.1 overs. Taibur Rahman claimed three wickets for Dhaka, with Nazmul Islam Apu and Ripon Mondal taking two each.
