Milwaukee has paid tribute to legendary Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker with the unveiling of a giant mural in downtown Milwaukee. The artwork celebrates the voice that shaped the city’s baseball identity for decades.
Fans gathered on Tuesday for the dedication ceremony. The city honoured Uecker, who called Milwaukee Brewers games for 54 seasons before his death on 16 January 2025 at the age of 90.
Former broadcast partner Lane Grindle stood in front of the mural and said Uecker’s legacy will continue to inspire the local community and the wider baseball world. He said, “We always said Bob was larger than life, and now he literally is.”
Although Uecker gained national fame through films, television appearances and commercials, he remained closely tied to Milwaukee throughout his career.
The mural measures 80 feet wide and 100 feet high. It shows Uecker wearing his signature plaid blazer. It also features his autograph and his famous nickname, “Mr. Baseball.” The artwork stands on the north side of the Wintrust Financial Center at 731 N. Jackson Street.

rtist Mauricio Ramirez created the mural. He also designed the large downtown mural of former Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2022. Work on the Uecker mural began in mid-May.
The ceremony featured Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy, outfielder Christian Yelich, president of baseball operations Matt Arnold, and members of Uecker’s family.
Murphy said Uecker cared deeply about players at every level. He said Uecker treated everyone like family, from star players to newly promoted rookies.
Yelich said his time with Uecker off the field stood out in his career. He recalled Uecker’s stories about baseball, acting, television, and encounters with celebrities, astronauts and even US presidents.
Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger said Uecker turned down national opportunities and offers from other Major League Baseball teams. He said Uecker stayed loyal to Milwaukee throughout his career and never left the city he called home.
