Mastercard, Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) and Shamadhan Services Ltd have launched a co-branded prepaid card linked to the gpay digital wallet, allowing users to spend wallet balances seamlessly across online and physical payment channels.
The card mirrors users’ gpay wallet balances in real time, enabling transactions without transferring funds between separate accounts, the partners said in a joint press release on Wednesday.
Designed to expand access to digital financial services, the card supports e-commerce purchases, in-store payments, Bangla QR transactions, ATM withdrawals and contactless Tap & Go payments. Users also receive instant transaction alerts and real-time balance updates.
The partners said the initiative combines the convenience of a digital wallet with Mastercard’s global payment network, offering a secure and flexible payment solution while supporting broader financial inclusion.
MTB CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman said the collaboration brings together banking and digital wallet services to provide customers with greater convenience, security and flexibility in managing their finances.
Mastercard Bangladesh Country Manager Zakia Sultana said the partnership combines digital wallet convenience with Mastercard’s global acceptance and security, enabling users to manage and access funds with greater ease and confidence.
Shamadhan Services CEO Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui said integrating the prepaid card with the gpay wallet would give customers real-time access to funds and greater flexibility in how they transact.
