A man was allegedly beaten to death in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Kader Jilani, alias Kan Kata Kadera, 42, of Chaumuhani municipality.
Quoting the victim’s family, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liton Dewan of Begumganj Police Station said Kader was involved in criminal activities in the area. He was accused in at least four cases related to drugs and assault.
He said, “We recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.”
The incident occurred around 11:30pm on Friday at Cherang Bari under Ward No. 2 of Hajipur Union, he added.
According to police and locals, Kader had a dispute with some local youths over establishing supremacy in the area.
However, police could not immediately identify those involved in the murder.
