Comilla’s Mofazzal Mahin Chowdhury is set to represent Bangladesh at the upcoming International Karate Championship in London. The event will take place on 1 and 2 November in Richmond, with over 700 athletes from 16 countries expected to participate.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday, 20 October at 5 pm, at the conference room of the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla.
Mahin, who is the president of The Royal Karate-Do Association, said he feels honoured to be competing as the only Bangladeshi athlete in the championship. He expressed his gratitude to the organisers for selecting him to represent the country.
He noted that he has previously taken part in several international competitions, including the Asian Championship in India. So far, he has won 12 international gold medals, along with many others at national and inter-district levels.
Mahin requested prayers from the people of Bangladesh for his success in the competition, hoping to bring pride to the country. He also shared his dream of becoming an international martial arts instructor.
Present at the press conference were senior vice president of The Royal Karate-Do Association Kamal Uddin Ahmed, general secretary Md Ekramul Haque, assistant joint secretary Kawsar Akash, and other club members.
