Police arrested a madrasa teacher on allegations of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old student in Mujibnagar, Meherpur.
Mujibnagar Police Station Officer In-Charge (OC) Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday night.
According to locals, a father had enrolled his son in the boarding section of the Mujibnagar Ideal Madrasa and Dakhil Hifzkhana. He learned through the guardian of another classmate that the madrasa’s Arabic teacher, Nur Uddin, 25, had allegedly taken the boy to his room and assaulted him on multiple occasions.
Upon receiving the news, the father rushed to madrasa. After speaking with his son, the father confirmed the incident. Residents further alleged that similar incidents had occurred with several other children at the institution.
As the situation escalated and people surrounded madrasa, Police arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control and arrested Nur Uddin. He was then shown arrested in connection with the allegations.
OC Zahidul said, “The father has filed a case. Legal action will be taken against the accused.”
