A 14 year old madrasa student died after being bitten by a snake while asleep in Jhenaidah on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Arafat Hossain, a class six student of Ghorshal Madrasah. He is the son of Hannan Musulli of Taltala Para in Ghorshal union under Sadar upazila. The incident occurred around 11:30pm.
Jhenaidah 250 Bedded General Hospital and Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
According to family members and locals, Arafat was sleeping in his room when the snake bit him. His relatives then took him to traditional healer, locally known as “Ojha”. After returning home, his condition deteriorated at around 3am.
His family later took him to Jhenaidah 250 Bedded General Hospital. But he died on the way.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Asaduzzaman said, “We have not received any such incident. Usually, an unnatural death case is filed in connection with such incidents.”
